Trinity United Methodist Church

We are a historic congregation in Downtown Durham that has been serving the vulnerable, worshiping God in a beautifully inspiring space, and building a diverse community for over 200 years. We are a part of Durham's dynamic legacy, and we plan to be a part of its bright future

Join us in person and online, Sundays at 11:00 am. For up-to-date information about news and events happening at Trinity UMC, subscribe to our newsletter, The Steeple, at the bottom of this page.

Lenten Season

Ash Wednesday is February 18, 2026.  Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent - a time where we prepare for Easter. This is a solemn day that reminds us of our human mortality by the practice of "imposing" ashes onto the forehead.

On February 18th at 7:00pm, join us for a special worship service including the imposition of ashes, music,  and a message.

We invite you to participate in our small group Lenten study on Christian Nationalism.  The group will meet on Sundays at 2:00 pm during lent.  Click here for more information.

Lenten Journey

As we enter the sacred season of Lent, we invite you to join us on a 40-day journey through the Gospel of Matthew. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, this reading plan will guide us through Jesus' life, ministry, teachings, and ultimately, His sacrifice for us.

Click here for the full reading plan below and follow along with us in prayer and reflection. Let’s walk this Lenten journey together!

"Give me your lantern and compass, give me a map, So I can find my way to the sacred mountain, to the place of your presence..."
