Compassionate MinistryMotivated by Love In her sermon on Sunday, Pastor Tobi called for a group who would respond to those sleeping on our grounds with compassion. Rev. Carolyn, Travis and Pastor Tobi would like to train a group of people that can respond to the needs of people compassionately while also honoring the church grounds to not be a campground. It's time to kick off our pride planning efforts for this fall! As you've likely heard by now, Durham Pride weekend (Sept 28/29) will look a bit different this year, with the Parade on Sunday morning. We will meet over zoom next Thursday, July 25, at 7:00 p.m. to talk through initial logistics, changes in plans, and other topics including the Queerly Beloved worship service. Community Luncheon RoundtableJuly 25 @ Noon Join Religious Coalition Thursday, July 25 at noon (1209 N. Elizabeth Street) for our July Community Luncheon Roundtable. This month, we're excited to welcome (back) our friend Tiffany Swoope for a deeper encounter with the work of GRACED, Inc. We'll hear from Tiffany and some of her youth participants in Durham's Cornwallis housing community about GRACED Inc.'s life-enhancing programs that work to build self-reliance and break the cycle of trauma. Elizabeth Street) for a Community Vigil of sacred attention to the worth of every one life in Durham. "In times of violence we see how inhuman we can be." And so we offer up a space of tending to our common humanity—grounded in the truth of our public grief, and the light of a Love that will not let any one of us go. Every body is welcome. |

Praise God! This week marked our last week serving the children and families of the Freedom School Summer Camp Program. Thanks to Annette, last week’s spaghetti dinner was a huge success and this week’s Taco Tuesday was a hit! Thanks to your support, the families we serve are staying fed and prayed up! |
'Bad Faith' Documentary ScreeningAugust 3, 2024 On Saturday, August 3 at 10:00 am, Mount Level Community Partnership for Racial Justice invites fellow churches, neighbors, and friends of democracy to a screening of the documentary Bad Faith: Christian Nationalism's Unholy War on Democracy at Mount Level Missionary Baptist Church (316 Hebron Road). The screening will include remarks from Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove (School for Conversion; Center for Public Theology and Public Policy at Yale Divinity School), and light refreshments will be served.
